Education and Background

Ph.D., University of Toronto, Faculty of Social Work, 2003.

M.S.W., York University, School of Social Work, 1993.

CQSW (Certificate of Qualification in Social Work), Central Council for Education in Social Work and Croydon Collage, England, 1984.

Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies, Croydon College, England, 1984.

BSc. Honours in Social Sciences, University of the South Bank, London, England, 1983.

I have worked in child protection in both England and Canada. I moved into teaching while undertaking a PhD at the University of Toronto and I remain involved in child protection through my research, teaching and also through training and consultation I provide to agencies and government departments.

Before I decided, or perhaps discovered, that social work was for me, I explored several career options, including a short time in the British Royal Marines and also time working in construction as a bricklayer.

UPDATE 2019: Always looking to learn something new, I am now studying Theology at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto, where I am interested in exploring theological perspectives on social justice.
